This week Hitachi GST announced a new mobile HDD offering, the Travelstar 5K100. I actually worked on this drive soon after I started my IA, and solved one of the early manufacturing test problems. A small contribution to be sure, especially relative to some others' work, but my department was getting the heat for that particular one. I'm not sure of the drives' availability schedule to distribution channels, but it's supposed to be within the year.
