This salaryman lifestyle is hard to stomach. Yesterday I left my apartment at about five to 9, and didn't get back home until almost midnight. Then I spent a good hour and a half sending work email from home. The lack of personal time is genuinely displeasing. Granted, not all of that time is work: there's about 1.5 hrs for the commute, an hour for lunch and dinner, and of course some time conversing with coworkers. Excluding travel and dining time, that's still almost 14 hrs. One or two of my colleagues back in the U.S. barely work 8 hrs and they screw around for half that time! Obviously that pisses me off. On the other hand, some of my coworkers here put in these same kinds of hours or more (and then there's Mr. Green). *sigh* Another year of this is going to be hard on my psyche.
